11/20/10
Family Thanksgiving Trip
High Island, Texas

The first thing I would like to do is Thank GOD for the blessings he has given this family and friends and the ability too do the things we enjoy.

GL and the Chapa’s show up on the beach around 8:20 ish and Dickie was already there and he was HOOKED UP! The rush was on to get the rods in the water. Not too many fishermen on the beach. The wind was out of the ESE and the water was dirty and ROUGH! Good for the fishing but tough on the fisherman. The water was cold regardless what Dickie said. No mullet in the surf again. Croaker and whiting were pretty easy to come by on shrimp but you also caught some of those pesky hardheads. We did manage to catch several keeper black drum on the bait rods I believe Dickie took home his limit of puppy drum. Most fish were caught on crab but we did manage tow on fresh croaker. The tide was moving in all day and got higher than I have seen it in a long time. We caught big fish in the first gut once the tide got high and we were no longer able to cast to the second gut, We had some heavy equipment come through like we did the last time out and I belive it scares he fish away. We ended catching all fish on casted baits.

Total catch was several keeper drum, 3 BU and 9 Bull Redfish.
Anthony had seen the previous reports and he wanted too catch some BIG fish of his own. I was hoping for good weather and plenty of fish, It seemed worked out well. We were also fortunate enough to have Greg and Dickie along with us.

Now for the fish pictures!
This is what we saw when we hit the beach.
Dickie in ACTION!

First fish of the day is a 32” redfish.
It looks like it’s going to be a good day!

Anthony with a 36” redfish that was hooked before the rod was in the holder.
This was the second rod thrown out.

Greg with a VERY respectable BU.

Ashley in action!

Dickie with a BU of his own.

The girl folk sitting around.

Greg with yet another BU.

Anthony with a keeper drum that was NOT sent home too Mommy.

The heavy equipment that I think is scaring the fish. Your thoughts?
The ground would shake every time they went by.

Ashley with her own keeper,

Just like here Brother Albert.
She even did the FISH DANCE that we have on video.

Ashley gets into the bull redfish with this one.

A bit latter Greg gets his first redfish of his own.
Sorry that I was unable to capture the tail of each fish that you caught.

The Dudes with Anthony’s 39” fat bull redfish.

Ashley gets her BIGGEST redfish of the trip at 40-1/2 inches.
This fish was a FAT one.

Anthony with the BIGGEST redfish of the trip.
It was caught on a bait rod with a piece of croaker thrown in the first gut right from the edge of the water.

The Chapa family with a not too shabby (39-1/2”)
light tackle first gut redfish that I caught.
