In the COLD at PL
Port Lavaca, Texas

The first thing I would like to do is Thank GOD for the blessings he has given this family and friends and the ability too do the things we enjoy. With such good results on the last time I headed to Port Lavaca I decided to head out there again. I thought the cold night and warming trend would bring the BU out of the shallows during the day. I was WRONG! I got there around 8 am and started carrying equipment to the end of the pier. I set up the tarp and chair, sharpened the hooks and had my first bait i n the water around 8:45. Them the wait began. I BSed with people that came by, enjoyed the sun, a 2 hr knap and checked the baits. Not a bait bitten or taken. Thank GOD for such a nice day. I knew I would hook up once the sun went down but I had already been there a while. I told myself that I was leaving if I had not caught anything by 8 pm. The first fish hit the deck at 7:30. Very long wait. Now for the rest of the story! Total catch was 6 BU ranging from 39 to 46inches long. One Rooky caught his biggest fish ever. First fish of the day. A very feisty 44” BU! I'm sure glad I did not get skunked after such a long drive and wait.

I asked a little dude (Gabriel) on the pier if he wanted to bring him in and he declined. This nice 44” BU would have been a really nice first fish.

While fighting the fish above one of my other rods had a run and Victor took a hold of it. Nice 42” BU grandpa. Gabriel posing with his grandpa.

After a lull in the action one of my lines slaked and this nice 40” was at the end of the line.

Shortly afterwards Gabriel’s cousins showed up on the pier. I had a run and again asked Gabriel if he wanted to land a fish. Once again he denied but his cousin Dylan did not hesitate. Dylan managed to get himself a huge 43” BU. WTG Dylan. Your family was proud of you.

Around 9ish I had a huge run and fought the fish what seemed like an eternity but I finally got the upper hand and landed this impressive 45 ish BU. He was a brute.

After this fish I decided to pack it in and head home. I took the tarp, chair and bucket back to the truck and when I returned for the rods and net, Anthony had this very nice 45” BU on the line. After a very good fight it was in the net. I think this was t he biggest fish of the night. It looked rally heavy. WTG Anthony!

Team C.B.F. scores again!
