The first thing I would like to do is Thank GOD for the blessings he has given this family and the ability too do the things we enjoy. After taking a look at the weather report I decided to fish Friday night. Went to Port Lavaca to see what was going on and too meet up with Anthony and Junior R. I arrived around midnight and the wind was blowing around 10-15 mph from the SW! Never going there again if the wind is from that direction. No matter how the wind gets the water where I fish stays clear. Very clear. It's never good to fish for BU or Bull reads in water that clear. It just never works out for me. The net hanging in the water a foot or more. Not GOOD!

I had some small bumps from what I think were sheepshead or small drum. One real pickup but I lost it. Anthony brought one to the edge of the pier but he let go of the crab at the last minute. We BS'ed for hours until around 3 am when Junior has a huge run. After a good fight from calling out that it was a redfish, to a keeper drum with stripes to where he was a MONSTER he finally brings it in. Junior with a very nice 44" BU. (Sorry for cutting your head off dude!)

Anthony and Junior left shortly after and I had the pier to myself so I just kept fishing. Around 5:30 am I was having my A$$ handed too me by a fish that I never saw. It felt BIG. I fought it for around 5 good minutes and it had me running all around that pier. Then all of a sudden the line jerked back at me. I though I had broken off. After a few choice adjectives I brought in the line to find out that either the fish let go or I pulled the hook right out of his mouth. This fight got me all pumped up. I checked all the baits and got ready. Around 6:30 when you can barely see the sun coming up I had my second run. After a brief battle and challenging solo netting the fish was on the deck. It was a respectable fat 43" BU!

After that all I really did was enjoy the sunrise. Wouldn't be great to be able to see this every day?

Or this?

Around 8ish I headed to Matagorda. Way too rough in the surf and too many fisherman in the little pier I like fishing on the river. I then headed to Sargent and it looked promising. Set out the rods in The ICW and was kept busy with all the barge trafic but it was manageable. I stuck around until 4ish and packed it up without a bite. I must have taken a cat knap for a while because I had lost two baits in the process. All day at Sargent all I could hear was the wing and the waves. Anyone want too kayak in this angry sea? I know I don't!

Team C.B.F. scores again!
