1/2/05
First FISHING Day of 2005!
High Island, Texas

Just had to go no matter the weather.

We decided to head to High Island due to all the good reports coming from there. We arrived on the beach at 8:00 am and had twenty red/drum on the beach by 3:00pm. Never had time to rest. Most caught on crabs and even a few on crab claws. Below is our story.

Just had to show you what Anthony did while putting in the first sand stake of 2005.

Ouch!!!

Big Ugly #1 38"
Anthony is the first on Team C.B.F. to catch a fish in 2005.
Have you ever seen a darker Big Ugly?

Bull Red #1 42"
I was up next and caught he first Bull Red of the year.

This big guy was caught on 15# test line using a crab claw for bait.

Look at the hump on this monster. (The fish not Anthony!) This fish was fat.

Bull Red #8 40"
This fish made me wish I was taking vitamins.

Big Ugly #6 38"
Another dark fish.

Bull Red #9 39"
Are these fish getting heavier or is it just me?

I e-mailed this picture to a friend and the e-mail weighed 5 pounds.

Bull Red #10 41"
Not a bad fish at all.

Bull Red #11 43"
This fish was so fat that I had to get the scale out and see what it weighed. The scale topped off at a whopping 33 pounds.

Big Ugly #7 36"
That is one bulging eyed ugly fish. Anthony had fun catching him on 12# test line.
Way to go Anthony.

Big Ugly #8 39"
Another fish caught on crab claw.

Big Ugly #9 36"
Anthony with the last fish of the day. We have his fish on video. I can't wait to learn how to put video on this site.

Now for the REPORT!

With pictures like these I can't really tell you anything else. The water was dirty and rough. The fog was in thick to where most of the time we could not see our last poles. Crabs were used for bait even the claws were catching fish. Most fish were in the first gut. All were taken on cast baits. We fished a spot of mud because I thought that this area would heat up the quickest. Guess it worked. No other bait were ever attempted to be caught because we never has the time. We landed a total of 11 Bull Redfish and 9 Big Uglies ranging from 36 to 44 inches. Not a bad way to start the year.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
