BIG UGLY WEEKEND!
High Island, Texas

MOST of the KIDS are GONE and Mamma's having FUN!

With some free time on our hands and not having caught anything BIG in a few weeks you can guess where we headed. We arrived on the beach at 7:00 am and had nine red/drum on the beach by 1:00pm when we had to round up the rest of the kids.
Below is our story.

Big Ugly #1 44"
Albert was the lucky one to get the first fish of the day. We had th rods out for at least an hour before we had the first run.

Big Ugly #2 42"
Shortly after releasing Albert's fish this Big Ugly hit the rod right next to the one we had just caught a fish on.

Now this fish is truly BIG and UGLY!

Big Ugly #3 38" and #4 40"
These fish seem to have been hitting in pairs. While Albert was helping out his Mommy my brown pole took off. Someone had to get it, why not me? Priscilla and I are here with what I am pretty sure is our first double ever.
Yes, she fishes, takes off her own catfish, baits her own hooks but still does not like holding her own fish for pictures and with a fish that big I do not blame her.

Check out yet another double hook up. Albert eventually lost his fish while trying to drag it over the first sandbar.

Big Ugly #5 43"
Priscilla with yet another big fish.

Big Ugly #6 41"
After a slowdown in the action and a quick lunch of beach made sandwiches Albert lands this beauty. You know something is wrong when you call a fish this ugly beautiful. Beauty in in the eyes of the rod holder.

Big Ugly #7 45"
Not long after Albert's fish my light action rod starts to bend like as if it were going to break. You can see why by looking at what was on the other end of the line. It was this black monster. Not a bad for using 15# test line. What a fight this was. I figure this fish was pushing somewhere around 45 pounds.

Bull Redfissh #1 37"
Albert with the smallest fish of the day. This fish does not know how lucky it was when we released it, especially with lent upon us.

Big Ugly #8 42"
As we were packing and getting ready to leave one of our last poles starts to take off and Priscilla stepped into action to land yet another good fish.

Now for the REPORT!

We could not have asked for a better day. The sun came out after not seeing it for several days and we were able to get some rays. The water was dirty and rough. The fog was in thick early in the day but cleared out quickly. Crabs were used for bait. The fish were in the first gut and as far as I could cast. All were taken on cast baits. We tried with our cast net and shrimp on the bottom to catch something else for bait without any success. We landed a total of 8 Big Ugly's and 9 Bull redfish.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
