2005 the fish will ARRIVE!

Spring Break 2005
High Island

Katchfest II!

Same story. We decided to head back to HI again since we had done so well earlier in the week. We arrived on the beach early around 10:30 am. Hey it's spring break and I decided to sleep in. The tide was low again and really never came up to normal.

Below is our story!

Bull Red #1 40"
Anthony was first to strike today. The boy has the eyes of a hawk and can get to the farthest pole quicker than anybody.

Bull Red #2 42"
Anthony with another nice fish. Albert hooked a fish and is still fighting it so we get a picture of this fish and let it go.
As you can see Andie wants to be in the picture with her big brother.

Bull Red #3 38"
Albert with the fish that took him quite a long time to bring in because it was on a yaked out bait.

Albert coming in after deploying a bait way offshore.
I think he volunteers to take out the baits only because he likes playing in the surf?

Bull Red #4 40"
I finally get to see some action and manage to bring in this copper colored beauty.
If you asked me it happened to be the best looking fish caught all day.

Bull Red #5 41"
Albert somehow beat Anthony to the rod and managed to catch himself another copper beauty.

Bull Red #6 43"
I see my favorite rod twitching a little and ask Priscilla to tighten the line a bit. Before she turned around the pole bent over in two and she was into the action herself.
I should of tightened the line myself because this was one of the biggest fish of the day.

42" Bull Red
1st fish ever!
Visiting from Germany

Rich Norris and Thorsten Estermann stopped buy a while to BS and talk fishing while Albert was reeling in a fish. Unfortunately we lost it after I grabbed the leader and tried to get it over the first sand bar. They stuck around a while and were about to leave when another rod takes off. Thorsten was up since he had come all the way from Germany to go fishing and had not had caught anything all day. After a good battle he managed to catch this magnificent fish.

Team C.B.F. is proud to be able to get you onto your first fish ever!

Bull Red #7 44"
Anthony just had to much speed and beat Albert (again) to one of the poles at the very end and managed to land this HOG!
This fish weighed in at a healthy 31 pounds.

Bull Red #8 41"
I just had changed the bait on my favorite brown rod when it started to scream.
Now you know why. This fish was angry and fought like it too!

Bull Red #9 39"
Right before we started to pack it up because of the mosquitoes Priscilla runs over to a bending rod that none of us had seen and started reeling. This fish is what she got for her efforts.

Bull Red #10 36"
We were packing as fast as we could because the blood was being sucked right out of just as fast the IRS takes taxes out of your paycheck. I still managed to drag in this fish that was on one of our yaked baits. Nobody seemed to notice this fish on or everybody was just trying to get away from the mosquitoes.

Bull Red #11 36"
It was already getting dark when we were putting up the last rod when Albert yells "FISH ON"!
We could not be happier to get this fish's picture on on our way.
This happened to be Albert's fish of the day.

Now for the REPORT!

We fished a low tide that never really came up like I expected it to. During the low tide we caught all our fish on yaked baits. Nothing was hitting the close baits despite of the fresh crabs we were using. In all we landed a total of 11 Bull redfish and no Big Uglies. We used crabs and fresh whiting for bait. Most were caught on whiting. We did manage to catch several on crabs because we went through 5 pounds of those little buggers. As the tide got back to normal we eventually caught fish with our casted rods. All the fish were from 36 to 44 inches long.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
