2004 the year for MORE!

4th of July and the fireworks were flying!

Black Drum 20" long and 3.375#'s
After Anthony impressed me with catching his limit of redfish on his flyrod then he adds his largest black drum ever! You all know how hard it is to catch a drum on a lure much more less a fly. I specifically fished for a black drum for a year before I caught one. YES, We will be submitting it to the TPW for certification in the Junior Angler Fly Rod division. Hope it makes it. Either way record or not I am proud of the boy catching this fish on his fly rod.

Black Drum 24" long and 6.375#'s
I could not let the kid out do the old man. I also caught may largest black drum ever. This brute gave me one heck of a fight and was into my backing in no time. I will be submitting this fish to the TPW for certification as a Water body record for Baffin Bay. I also caught another 21" drum.

Days catch!
Check out this days catch on a flyrod! The boy is getting good. It must be his teacher.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, need I say more? OK, here is the crew with the weekends catch. Or should I say what we kept.

Now for the REPORT!

Sorry for the lack of action pictures but we forgot the camera in the truck the first two days on the water. I had to make a trip back to the dock just so we could get these few pictures. We also did not take the time to take pictures because we were having too much fun catching fish. We would fish for trout early in the morning and hit the shallow flats as soon as the sun would not cast a long shadow. We caught several trout on topwaters but very few were keepers. We used our conventional tackle the first time we chased the reds but were spooking everything even with my goto redfish lure. We went back to the cabin to get our fly rods and the rodeo was on. Anthony caught most of his fish with a red/gold spoon fly I tied him and I took all my fish on a pink/pearl bunny. All the fish were 4 to 15 inches of water. We saw singles and sometimes small schools of 5 fish. It seems that if you cast to more than one fish at a time the smaller one always takes your fly first. In all Anthony caught 6 reds(20-24") and a black drum and I caught 15 reds(18-27.5") and two black drum (24 and 21"). I broke off a fish that was in the 34-36 inch range. Man that would have been something. The black drum were so shallow that you can clearly see them coming. I almost forgot to mention that Priscilla was catching keeper trout right off the cabin porch. In all we brought home 5 trout, 3 drum and 13 redfish. All I can say is the Chapa Family had a great time at the cabin and will be spending more time there this summer. I took Mommy with us so we did not have to fish that hard! Overall the outing was so cool I still am getting over the excitement. Caught some fish and spent quality time with the family, what more can you ask for?

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!

FISH HARD or STAY HOME with your MOMMY!
