Been working some long hours but had off last Friday. The forcast looked good so there
was only one thing we could do. Hit the rig. After a quick one hour paddle and
trolling we reached the rig and started to drift around it. I eventually decided to
tie off to it. I started to catch some decent bait with my sabiki rig so I decied to
change leaders and fish off the bottom. I took the largest shad I had and down she went.
A few minutes later a guy next to me hooked up so I brought everything in but left
the shad about 3 feet under my yak. I then see three ling swim by and one turned
around and inhaled my shad! FISH ON! After a good fight the fish was now at the
yak. With the help of Ron we got that fish onto the fish bag. I took a breath
and impaled another large shad on the 14/0 mustad circle hook and sent him down 6-10 feet.
After around ten minutes I saw another ling come by. This time I jigged the shad a few
times and FIHS ON AGIAN! Here are some pictues of our catches that may give our location
away.
Here I am with my first Ling EVER!
Tom with a very NICE Kingfish.
The OTH Crew! (On The Horrizon not Over The Hill!)
My catch for the day if you don't count bait and trigger fish.
Ron and I with our YAK caught Ling.
Ron also landed a ling that was twice the siae of the one I caught!
It was HUGE!
All in all the trip was pretty darn good.
We caught 4 ling and one king between the three of us.
Plenty of bait was caught as well. I expect this place to become
one of our favorite offshore spots soon.
