Well all I can say is that I HATE seaweed, With the gulf just full of seaweed we decide to spend our three day weekend fishing the bays! I call a couple of friends and they said come on down! This is the first part of our adventure! The plans were to pick a spot before it got dark, set up camp and catch fish!

We arrive on Aransass Pass around 4ish and we meet up with my old friend Felix from back home, This boy can fish! He has been inviting me down but we really never were able to get meet up. Not this time it all seemed to work out. We head to the ramp, load the boat and head out into Aransass bay. Felix knew exactly where to go. Before the sun started coming down we already had fish in the ice chest. We caught fish all night long. Keeper redfish and black drum were filling the box. Around 2:30 in the morning I as Felix if he had ever caught any big drum in the area. No and we are fishing with mullet was the answer with a chuckle. I said "Dawg - this looks like a good place for big Uglies and they eat mullet too!" Not even 20 minutes later he has a hug run and yells that he had a big stingray on. I said that a drum my friend. After a good fight on 17# test and arguing with me I help him land this VERY fat 45" black drum. this fish was pushing 60 pounds for sure!






After a successful release I take my flashlight and commence to find me a crab. I did, and he went directly back into the water with a hook in him. 30 minutes later I get the respectable but skinny 41 inch BU.




Morning came around and packed up and headed in. We ended releasing these two Big Uglies a 32" redfish and boxing numerous keeper black drum and redfish.
