Local Fishing!
Sargent, Texas

Well we are sitting their looking out the window and not seeing the rain that was predicted and had the urge to get out. Anthony had a physics paper that was due so he couldn't make it. I asked "Who wants to go?" and Andie is the only one that looked interested. By the time the truck was loaded Albert decided to go. The weekend prior I had caught two reds, a black drum and a little shark so I said what the heck! So we headed to Sargent. With the price of gas right now I need to find somewhere less than 100 miles away to go fishing. We hit he beach around noon. It didn't take too long after setting up the rods when one slowly starts to get a bump. I hand the rod to Andie and the fight was ON! She was having a hard time because the reel did not have a level-wind and the fish was using the current to his advantage.

Well she is an 8 year old little girl and she really did not want to hold the fish so I had to help here out. She did end up with this nice 36-1/2" BU!

BAIT!
Someone has to catch it!
Bait was all we caught for the next 3 hours!

We moved to anther fishy looking spot and before long Albert starts running and I knew what that meant! FISH ON! After a really good fight and trying to figure out how to land this fish off a bulkhead the fish was in hand. Check out this brute! It ended up being the biggest of the day at 44 inches.

Look at the nasty storm coming in over Albert's right shoulder. Believe it or not we didn't get get wet.

Man I could not get SKUNKED so the next rod that had a little twitch I made sure I got to it quickly. He was not a massive fish but it did barely go over 3 feet at 36-1/2 inches.

We stuck around a bit more even though it looked like it might rain. All of a sudden Andie starts towards a pole yelling This one is MINE! I get the rod out of the holder and the fight was on! I have video but I have not learned how to add it here.

After a good battle here biggest black drum to date was landed. A WHOPPING 39-1/2 inches. Not bad for a little girl. This time she was willing to pose holding the fishes tail. It's a start. One day she will be holding them up on her own.

During the whole time Albert was at the other end of our setup fighting his own fish. Check out this DOUBLE! Andie's on top and Albert's on the bottom.

Albert with another BIG Black Drum. Way to go boy!

All in all the trip was pretty darn good. We caught 5 BIG Uglies ranging from 36-1/2 to 44 inches and they all gave a good fight. Plenty of bait was caught as well as small drum, sheepshead, whiting and croaker. I expect this place to become of of our favorite spots soon. Especially since it is the closest saltwater to our house and the HIGH price of gas.

Team C.B.F. scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
