1st Day of Spring 2004!

Big Ugly #1 38" long
After waiting a few hours of BSing with good friends Anthony finally catches the first fish of the trip.
I taught the boy to let the guests catch the first fish but he said it was heading straight to the pilings.
That's his story and so far he is sticking to it!
Good catch Anthony!

Bull Red 38" long
Brice came all the way from Oklahoma to see how he would do at the Dirty Pelican?
Not a bad catch for his first Bull red!

Way to go Brice!

Anthony with Team C.B.F.'s first gafftop of 2004.
It seem's to me that they are here a bit early.

Did I mention that we were using a Landalot® Net?

Bull Red 39 1/2" long and Bull Red #1 38" long
Anthony catches a small whiting which I precede to cut into 3 fair sized baits. I give on piece away to a good friend Charlie and put the other 2 pieces on my rods.

Not even 15 minutes later we had a fish on. Craig catches his first Bull Redfish. Before we get Craig's fish off the hook I have a run on the other piece of whiting. Look at what it had. Another good sized redfish. 15-20 minutes after Craig an I take this picture of our double Charlie catches a good sized redfish on the third (last) piece of whiting. All I have to say is Craig (after a bit of coaching) wrestled that red away from the pilings like he had done it a hundred times before.
He did say it was his first time but I don't know about that!

Bull Red #2 38" long
Very early in the morning (while the boys were napping) I had this run and look what it was.
A healthy Bull red that put up one heck of a fight.

After visiting two groups of friends down the each we take up a section of the beach for our own. We had fun but all we caught was this eater sized Gafftop. Spring is here and the fish know it. One group of guys that we saw down the beach did very well. The group that we finally decided to fish with had a good time fishing but catching was a bit slow. They did manage a 34" bull shark and had a run on their 9/0. That bait came in with bite radius of 8-9 inches. Too bad we did not catch that one.
This was the first shark activity I have seen in the upper coast. Things are really beginning to heat up.

The big sharks will be in very soon!!!

Big Ugly #2 41" long - 33 Pounds
Check this out! Albert's finally catches his first decent sized fish of the trip.
I hope we do not have to wait for him that long the next time.

Now for the REPORT!

All I can say is that I had a good time fishing with new and old friends. I hope my guests (Brice and Craig) Had a good time. You guys are welcome back anytime. We saw a great verity of different types of fish this weekend. Whiting, Hard heads, Gafftop, Redfish, Black drum and shark were all seen this weekend. Things are going to break loose anytime I tell you. You need to get out to catch fish so get out there. Good bait was hard to fine but Gary at the Dirty pelican took good care of us.

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
