1 Mile Offshore in a KAYAK
High Island, Texas

1st Kayaking Offshore Adventure!

I would like to start out by saying this trip has been planned for months. Every time we tried something came up. Wind, rain, work, not bringing the yaks on a clam day, you name it. Last weekend we were finally blessed with a day that we could take our kayaks out safely.

Here is Anthony trolling a 3 oz spoon behind a shrimp boat. We were hopeing to get a tarpon, jackfish or maybe kingfish.
But no such luck.

This is one of two shrimp boats that we followed.

We were following the shrimp boats for a about a mile down the beach when we realized TJ had stopped. After 30-45 minutes after we last saw him we catch up and take this picture of him being pulled by what turned up to be a big shark.

TJ with the shark that was pulling him around.
My digital camera must not have been ready when I took this picture. The shark broke loose milliseconds after this shot was taken.
Be CAREFULL TJ!

TJ with a nice Bull Red
Notice how he is tied off to my yak, yet I am not doing as well as him.
I had trouble bringing the fish up for a pictures.

For more information on the leaders we used click here Catchalot®

After saying he had not caught a big ugly in long time TJ brings this monster to the yak.

Here I am with a big gaftop.
TJ, consider this pay back for the time I posted you with a big slimmy a few reports back.
Buy the way this fish poked me on my finger that caused great pain and made me bleed like a stuck pig.
Maybe that is why we started to catch sharks???

Anthony being towed off buy a fish that we think was a shark.
We will never know for this fish broke off before we saw what it was.

Bull Red #1 40" long
Check out what the boy caught.
Anthony is the first to bring a bull red onto a yak for Team C.B.F.
Way to GO Anthony!
I know Albert is jealous.

TJ with yet another big Bull Redfish!

Now for the REPORT!

All I can say is that it was AWSOME!!! I had a good time fishing a friend and my boy. We need to do it again soon.me. We saw a great verity of different types of fish this trip. Whiting, Gafftop, Redfish, Black drum and shark to name a few. All bait was easily caught with shrimp bites or the cast net. The gulf was calm all day. We may not have all the pictures we could have taken but allot more fish were caught. We all broke off numerous times. I had as blacktip that jumped three times before tangling up in Anthony's anchor rope and breaking off. we all had runs that broke off so quick that we could do nothing about it. We also had shark hit the top while they were chasing bait. I am going to have to get me some kind of Helmet Cam!

Team C.B.F's scores again!

I thank God for blessings he has given this family!
